As Senior Tech Lead, you will play a leading role in turning our product vision into reality. Likely working mostly from home at first, you’ll join an enthusiastic and experienced Product & Engineering team in our Melbourne office. You’ll work across product and engineering to establish contemporary systems architectures that are highly scalable, durable, and based on current best practices.

Our product is written mainly in Java and ReactJS, and runs on AWS across multiple regions. We use tools like Docker and Buildkite and deploy our systems with Elastic Beanstalk stacks. We’re looking for someone to help us evolve how our systems hang together while we grow our team and capability.

What will I be doing?

  • Creating change in a complex system. Make well-considered recommendations around patterns, principals, and tools, thinking through and mitigating for potential cascading impacts of recommended changes.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor. Partner with PMs, engineers and customer-facing teams to negotiate appropriate product architectures with consideration for user needs, business goals and technology constraints.
  • Designing well-architected systems. Understand and contribute to our product source code and infrastructure, but know when to step back to lead architecture design.
  • Designing holistically, delivering iteratively. Break down system-wide architecture recommendations into small, intelligently planned increments for delivery.
  • Advocate for technology needs. Translate technology risk into opportunity during product and technology roadmap discussions and advise on the required areas of focus.
  • Coach and mentor. Thoughtfully lead the team around you and assist with career development of less experienced staff on our teams. Line-manage up to 3 people.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated experience leading the architecture design of complex systems, with a focus on Java & AWS software architecture, preferably in a B2B or enterprise context
  • Highly effective at communicating, and comfortable whiteboarding architecture ideas with teams of engineers, product managers, and business analysts
  • Experience working on technical leadership teams involved in roadmap planning, hiring and staff capacity planning
  • Excellent understanding of the Java programming language and frameworks such as Spring & SpringBoot
  • Excellent understanding of database design, both relational and NoSQL
  • Good knowledge of AWS services, design patterns and practices

What will I be doing?

  • Modernising our cloud architecture. Use best practice to modernise our infrastructure-as-code strategy, and design and build new cloud systems as required by our Platform roadmap.
  • Creating and supporting build pipelines. We’re moving to BuildKite. You’ll develop some of our BuildKite pipelines, and facilitate the continuous delivery of our apps and services into production.
  • Supporting our systems. Respond with support for our cloud systems when things go belly-up, and enhance our observability capability so we get alerted at the right times.
  • Designing holistically, delivering iteratively. Break down system-wide architectures into small, intelligently planned increments for delivery.
  • Enabling others by building the right tools. This means (when it’s sensible) building pipelines, automation and tools so that teams can get what they want done themselves in a controlled, secure, and predictable way.

The skills we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing well-architected cloud-computing systems for medium to large scale deployments
  • Good knowledge of AWS services, design patterns and practices
  • A proven ability to troubleshoot and debug issues in AWS environments
  • Excellent linux administration skills, including using Docker in production
  • A mindset of continuous improvement
  • A basic understanding of how Java Virtual Machines run in production environments
  • Proven experience in at least one scripting language (PowerShell, Python, Bash )
  • A ‘security first’ mindset and good knowledge of cloud security and organisational security practices

Responsibilities

This is a full-stack web application development role for our SaaS platform. The basics are:

  • Backend development in Java, Spring, Hibernate, running on AWS

Business Development Representative (BDR)

Overview of The Role

The role of Business Development Representative (BDR) is an important one here at Performio. The BDRs find potential customers that are interested in Performio and want to evaluate our software. We have ambitious goals for the company. We intend to become the dominant sales performance management software for the global market within 5 years. This means generating lots of customers from leads sourced by a top-notch business development team. This will be a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. Position

In your role as a BDR, you will be a part of the Sales department and will report to the BDR Manager.

Key Responsibilities

As a BDR, your responsibilities will be the following:

  • Prospect into strategic business accounts via cold call, email and social strategies
  • Drive sales growth and pipeline by setting up qualified meetings for Account Executives
  • Maintain active communication and follow-up with leads by following a strategic sales cadence
  • Respond, engage and qualify inbound leads and inquiries
  • Become a Performio subject matter expert and effectively communicate our value prop to prospects
  • Other duties reasonably determined from time to time by your manager

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking a high-performing Product Manager to serve as a key member of our product team. This position will be based in our Melbourne office. The Product Manager will report to the Director of Experience Design and will have significant input into how our product capabilities and team evolve.

Our product development team in Melbourne is presently led by our Director of Engineering and Director of Experience Design. The Product Manager will partner with those leaders and work closely with our agile development team comprised of several engineers, DevOps, QA, a product designer and business analyst. They will have influence over the entire product, setting direction and ensuring the team is working on the most meaningful, highest value problems.

We believe the key to creating solutions our customers love is a deep understanding of their needs and problems. We need our Product Manager to be passionate in pursuing that knowledge through direct customer conversations, data analysis, and monitoring of both industry trends and the competitive landscape. They will also develop an understanding of our various business constraints, including sales, professional services, finance and legal, and share that knowledge (along with their customer insights) with the team.

We’re looking for a Product Manager who can collaborate, influence and lead a cross-functional team towards a common goal. Our team is empowered to solve hard problems and knows the most effective solutions are those that are valuable, viable, usable and feasible. We hold our designers accountable for usability, our engineers accountable for feasibility and our Product Manager accountable for ensuring we’re delivering value in a way that’s commercially viable.
